Our Crazy Road Trip: Day 6

Departure Time: 12:10 pm

Odometer: 9,824

Destination: West Yellowstone, Montana

Miles Travelled Today: 367

Total Miles Travelled to Date: 1,378

Wow. This was our go-to word for this three state day. It was another big drive day. I took the first shift, and to combat the boredom (Madonna's still stuck in the CD player), I mentally compiled a list of my most dreaded road obstacles:

1) Signs that read "Icy Bridge"

2) Construction Zones

3) Freeway interchanges

4) Drivers who pass on the right

That about sums it up. We got to see a whole lot more of our gorgeous country today: Northern Utah, lots of Idaho, and a teeny little corner of Montana. Idaho kind of reminds me of Norway, minus the waterfalls and trolls. The most amazing sight was the view we caught as we crossed the bridge over the Teton river, complete with a fisherman in a pontoon boat and a gaggle of White Chinese geese. The girls were, again, angels sent straight from heaven. That is, until we got to camp. Then they started bouncing about as if their legs were spring loaded. They were super excited because this is their first time seeing "real snow." We stopped along the roadway for a stretch break, so I hopped out and grabbed a clump of snow to bring in and give them a little preview of what was to come. They were both surprised by how cold it was.

Our first glimpse of the snow

This was their first venture out into the cold stuff. They loved it! It was too icy for a snowman, which they really wanted to make. Maybe tomorrow when we go into the park.

Our home away from home

Fi's thumb is chapped from dry weather and hours of sitting in her carseat sucking it.

Baby Chachi signing off.
