Hell is a seemingly endless, dark road in Utah with Madonna stuck in the CD player. Ok, so it's not really that bad; we're just STILL on the road. We got to see some beautiful countryside, but let's just say that we did not take the most direct route from Grand Canyon to our campground in Utah. The most interesting thing we've seen since it got dark about 3 hours ago is an"Escape Polygamy" billboard with a hotline number on it. No joke. The children have been absolutely stellar. I could not have asked them to behave any better given that we've been on the road for 10 hours since leaving the Grand Canyon, and about 11 hours total today. We had another awesome day at the Grand Canyon though. We stopped at the National Geographic Imax theater and saw the Grand Canyon movie before heading into the park. The girls were pretty amazed. Maddie's favorite part was that the seats rocked back and forth. Fiona kept squeezing Pat's hand and Chachi jumped at every scene change. It was a really cool movie though. It made me definitely decide to never go white water rafting. After that we went into the park and took the shuttle to Yavapai Observation Station for our final look at the canyon.

NatGeo and entering the park.

On the shuttle bus

Some really sweet girls offered to take a picture of our family. You can't really see it here, but the wall we are sitting on is the only barrier between us an a sheer 15 story drop. Fi is sitting in the backpack on Pat's back, so she's kind of just hanging off above the chasm.

For those of you who are craving some G.C. facts.

Charlie was quite the attraction himself. People kept stopping us to ask how old he was and marvel at his littleness. There was one Chinese couple who asked if they could take a picture of our family because we are "impressive." Mind you, we were at one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.

The girls are violating all sorts of Federal laws by collecting rocks.

So, we're drivin' along, drivin' along and we are suddenly confronted with these massive red rock cliffs. They sort of just snuck up on us.

You may not know this, but I have a mortal fear of crossing bridges. Whether I'm a pedestrian, a passenger, or a driver, it is a rather unsettling experience to traverse a bridge. So, of course, five minutes into my turn to drive I have to cross the bridge over Lake Powell. I'm too tired to write it out now, but if you remember, ask me about the Colossal Onion truck sometime.

Maddie and Fi signing off.
