Miles Travelled: 130 round trip by train
Destination: Grand Canyon, South Rim
Our day began bright and early with a pretty cheesy Wild West Show. The dude in black reminded us of Keenan Thompson in the "Scared Straight" SNL skit. He kept threatening people and licking his lips. Weird. Sagebrush gave the girls some spent bullets and seemed like a pretty cool guy until he robbed us on the train on the way home. Madeline thought it was pretty silly that Joey kept getting up after being shot dead. Me and Maddie were both pretty anxious to get on the train and see the Grand Canyon for the first time. Charlie just wanted to sleep. Fi just wanted the cowboys not to talk to her.

It is really pretty impossible to capture the Grand Canyon in a photograph. It is even difficult to describe in words what you are seeing. It is surreal, like an image being projected onto a giant TV screen. When I was standing there looking over this vast landscape, it seemed like it was an illusion. I told Pat, "It seems like it's not even really there."

Steph! Were you sleeping while getting robbed? And does the Hooter Hider in the "snack" picture represent Charlie's snack or is it an impromptu table cloth?
How fun! Joe and I took this trip years back, and we've been wanting to take the boys. It does look like you were sleeping during the robbery! :)
I was sleeping! I think eveyone in our car was. He came in and woke us up. Jerky train robber!
