You know, there's a lot of debate among historians about when the Declaration of Independence was actually signed. Some scholars argue that it was July 2nd, while Founding Fathers Jefferson and Adams both insisted it was July 4th (the date on which they both died in 1826).
We choose to fly in the face of academia and staunch patriotism, scorning both sides of the argument by celebrating our nation's independence on July 3rd. Also, this is when the cheap-o city of Moorpark does their fireworks, and Jeff and Kim are always nice enough to invite us over. Thus, one of the best holidays ever has been born - The 3rd of July!

Fiona's ample cheek glorifying Old Glory

The Martinez, Johnson, and McCollum children will remember our holiday celebration, rich with tradition and mayhem, for years to come.

Some sort of "heated" grill debate. Patrick is laughing because he has a wife to do the grilling for him.

Me and sweet cheeks, Hanna - She gave me a good snugglin'!
(Is this ok, Amy? Not weird, I hope.)

Looks like something really shady is about to go down here.
Little Yankee Doodle Beauties Ella, Fiona, and Madeline

Much like the sacred tradition of dancing around the Festivus pole, the time honored bludgeoning of the 3rd of July Seahorse is widely misunderstood. Even the founders of our holiday could not explain why it bleeds bubble solution all over the children trying to destroy it.

Maddie elegantly plays her annoying whistle blowy thingy, harvested from the fallen seahorse.

Proudly waving the stars and stripes!

That's not really a face I like to see my child making while holding fire.

Allow ourselves to introduce ourselves

Now that's the proper reverence for sparklers!

Fireworks time! Fiona claimed that our cool, 3D fireworks viewing glasses allowed her to see "the baby Jesus star."

Happy 3rd of July! God bless America!
