I have passed my loathing of the rising sun on to my youngest daughter. Mornings and wakings from afternoon naps are hard for her. She is barely functional for at least an hour after waking up. She rises with a whine, cries her way down the hall into our bedroom, and grumpily demands "bahwehfast." If we do not immediately meet her demands for food, she will persist in her moaning until one of us caves. One might guess that she ravenously gobbles up this food she has lobbied so hard for. One would be wrong. She just sits and stares at it. This can be a little rough on mornings when we have to actuallybe somewhere by a certain time. In a effort to speed things along, we will sometimes resort to spooning the food into her mouth for her. This resulted in the following episode between Daddo and Fi this morning:
Daddo raises the food-filled spoon to Fiona's lips.
Fiona opens her mouth 1mm and thrusts her face forward into the spoon.
Daddo blurts out, "You are not some street urchin from a third world country who has never seen a spoon before! When a spoon is presented to you, you open your mouth wide and accept it!"
Please, I could not even make this stuff up.
