Charlie is One Month Old!

Charlie's 1st month highlights:

  • We came home from the hospital when Charlie was one day old.
  • At 4 days old, Charlie weighed 6lbs. 13 oz. (a slight loss), was 20 1/4 inches long, and had a head circumference of 13 7/8".
  • He had his first trip to the grocery store with Mommy at 1 week of age.
  • Charlie's umbilical cord fell off when he was 11 days old. He beat Madeline's record for holding onto it by one day. Seems like he wanted to feel connected to mommy as long as possible.
  • Charlie got his first real bath at 12 days old. He was rather displeased about the whole process.
  • He first attended church at 9 days old. Of course, EVERYBODY wanted to get a peek.
  • Mommy moved him into his crib to sleep at two weeks old. He is too noisy! Lots of grunting from this one would keep mommy awake.
  • Daddo threw out the nickname Chachi, and it stuck.
  • At around 3 weeks Charlie started taking a pacifier instead of using nursing or mommy's finger.
  • He is NOT what you might call "a good sleeper." He is up 2, 3, 4 and even 5 times a night. Mommy and Daddo are tired. He is particularly grumpy between the hours of 4am and 7am. He gets really gassy and burpy and just wants to nurse constantly.
  • He really likes to sleep flat on his tummy on top of mommy's chest.
  • By one month Charlie weighed 8 lbs. 5 oz., was 21 inches long, and had a head circumference of 14 1/2".

COMING HOME

The girls were soooo excited to have their baby brother home.

Charlie's first "Bible Time."

Aunt Dondie was here to help for a few days after we brought Charlie home. As you can see, Fiona didn't leave her alone with him for a second.

My tiny little dude. He doesn't like to be swaddled. No matter how tightly I wrap him, he immediately pops his arms out.

Our first trip out with all three kids was for Charlie's first pediatrician visit. I am so impressed that we fit all three of them in one row of the car.

Madeline could not wait to hold Charlie. This is the first time I finally let her. She loves him so much.
Since Fiona has to do everything Madeline does, here she is holding Charlie. Although, she can hardly be bothered to stop sucking her thumb.

Chachi likes to play Mario Kart too.

I left Charlie to sleep on the sofa, and Madeline covered him up with a burp rag and set him up with a baby and a rattle. I like the image of his size compared to the baby's.

She loves this picture of Charlie sleeping that Daddo took in the hospital.

Fiona pays special attention to the baby. She even reads him books, one of her favorite activities.

Snuggles with Daddo.
FIRST BATH

I call this look "The Annoyed Frenchman."

Getting dried off in Daddo's arms.

Baby's first month is very tiring!

Dr. Evil

Watching from the front door as his sisters splash in the rain.

Such a handsome (and suspicious) little dude.
